Meet Dr. Edwards

Dr. Benjamin Sebastian Edwards brings together depth psychology and family systems theory in his therapeutic work with individuals, couples, and families. From his offices in West Los Angeles and Pasadena, he maintains an active private practice while serving as a senior lecturer at Antioch University's Masters in Clinical Psychology program.

Holding a PhD in Depth Psychology with a specialization in Integrative Therapy and Healing Practices, Dr. Edwards' current academic work explores the intersections of depth psychology, family systems, and contemporary psychosocial phenomena.

A Chilean-American and Los Angeles native, Ben brings a unique perspective shaped by his careers as a professional musician, producer, athlete, trainer, and coach. His background touring internationally and contributing to both Latin Grammy-nominated and winning albums, combined with his athletic achievements, gives him particular insight into the challenges faced by performers and creatives dealing with unfulfillment, the pressure to always be "on," and/or the search for better life balance. He specializes in working with such individuals and groups as they navigate creative blocks, communication challenges, performance anxiety, relationship difficulties, and personal fulfillment.

Drawing from years of practice as a marriage and family therapist (LMFT) in both residential and private practice settings, Ben has worked with thousands of families where mental health challenges affect and are affected by family dynamics. This deep understanding of how mental health symptoms correlate with and impact family systems informs his integrative approach to healing.

Ben has over a decade of experience working in addiction and recovery. He also has extensive experience working with men's issues and supporting those impacted by masculine relationships in their lives. His practice includes focused work on gender relations and identity issues between parents, partners, children, siblings, caregivers, and gender non-conforming individuals. His recent research examines the complex interplay between contemporary culture and masculinity.
